Apart from the brakes, how are you finding the Duckmobile @BAD LUCK DUCK ? A good reliable daily user?

Asking as I’m looking at pulling the trigger on an X type to replace the noddymobile comedy car….
When I was trying to sell the idea to Duck.
I said it's a Jaaaaaaag when it's working & a Mondeo when it's broken. There are parts that are specific to the Jag. But almost all the regularly used parts are interchangeable with a Mondeo.

You get a posh badge & very smart styling most of the time. Then older Ford parts prices when it needs fixing.
What's not to like 😃

Go for a MK2 2008 onwards though. Apparently there were 500+ changes over the MK1. Some of those changes are only minor. But you'll be benefiting from nearly a decade of R&D.
My choice would be a manual with either the 2.2 or 2.0 diesel. The petrol engines aren't as good & apart from the gas guzzling V6 they don't produce the relaxed ride Duck mentioned.

The easiest way to spot a MK2 X-Type when looking at advert photos. Is by looking at the door mirrors. If they have indicators built in, it's a MK2.

Spanner can't get in there..
Really bollox recessed area..Really difficult to get a socket and wrench in..
It's pure bollox and tomorrow I gotta go buy new solid as fuck 13mm socket or if I can get one a spanner with a 13mm socket attached...View attachment 15084
Try Sarky's suggestion of a jubilee clip around your 13mm socket. You should find one small enough on a breather hose or similar on the engine.
Obviously you'll still need a replacement socket. But the jubilee clip suggestion might take away the urgency to purchase one tomorrow.

Bang on what I’m looking at mate(y)

2008/9 facelift diesel 2.0 or 2.2 SE or Sovereign trim preferably less than 100K miles:)

The grill change also gives the facelift away(y)

Cool!
There are several that fit the bill on Ebay for £3k-£4k ish.

I deliberately didn't mention the grille because there are several aftermarket firms that offer kits to convert a MK1 to a MK2. The indicators in the mirrors are much harder to fake because I assume the wiring isn't there on a MK1.

Don't get too hung up on the mileage. Both the diesel engines run timing chains not belts. Therefore you'll get away with fluids/filters at most services.
