Just got back from the Hospital, Eldest son has been ill for a week and the wife ended up ringing 111 for advice, 20 mins on hold to be told after a few questions that they were sending an ambulance and it was on its way (this was at 6pm) at 9pm the lad was close to going unconscious and still no ambulance so ended up ringing 111 again but told I'm in a long cue....starting to get a bit worried now so decided to ring 999, sorted it with the controller who had the info on the ambulances arrival time...they will be with you within the next 19 hours sir, Sorry did you say 19 hrs..yes sir we are very busy,Ok should I try and get him there myself ... sorry sir I can't advise you on that would you like me to cancel the ambulance. Wife and I managed to get him into my very small hatchback and nip him to the hospital. waited in the car for half an hour as not allowed in then told to phone around 1am after they have done some tests to see whats occurring .... long night ahead I recon

Sorry to hear that your boy is in trouble @half ton hope it all goes well and he gets on the road to recovery.

The NHS is, quite frankly, fucked up beyond all recognition in the UK. My wife has been referred to the local Mental Health Team because she told a visiting Occupational Therapist that she had been contemplating suicide. Well someone from what they fuckin' laughingly call the 'team' told her they would discuss her case on Wednesday past and phone her afterwards. No phone call was received. After several attempts to get through to the team who can't be reached directly by phone we got no phonecall. Today a letter arrived saying that 'following her appointment (which she didn't have) with the Psychiatrist in charge of the operation, a useless turd called Dr Morrison, they had put her on the 'extensive waiting list to see their Occupational Therapist (a hippied out nutjob called Ella Ashcroft who thinks that everything can be solved by a spot of crafting and is nuttier than a fuckin' fruitcake herself) who will be in touch at some point in the next century. This comes at the end of a week where our wee Yorkie took a fit and died (Monday) and my mother's husband who she is close to as she never knew her own father and his daughter died a couple of years ago, told us that he has been diagnosed with Stomach Cancer.

On the TV they make a big thing out of looking after mental health but the reality is what Mental Health services there are are staffed by overpaid arsewipes who have got fuck all abilities to do anything except talk utter shite and collect a healthy wage for it.

In other news a mate of mine down in your lands was telling me that his 92 year old Dad fell down the stairs. No ambulance after eight hours of waiting. Given that no help was forthcoming they phoned the GP's who refused to see him. Asked if a Nurse would see him and were told that wasn't possible either and that they should take him to a 'Drop-In' Centre in the next town. Jeezus wept but Britain is in a shit state these days.

If you're thinking of purchasing vehicle breakdown cover?
Don't purchase it from the RAC.

3 Days ago Mrs DD arrived home with a tale about her car conking out as she accelerated onto a mini roundabout. But it eventually restarted after 4 attempts over 2 minutes or so.

As she was able to accurately describe the issue/symptoms. I was able to accurately diagnose the potential problem as being a blocked fuel filter. But unlike 99% of ladies, she knows her onions with cars & common engine faults. Not every husband/partner would have that luxury.

As it was snowing when she arrived home. I suggested she call the RAC as we have a policy which includes home start.

The idea being...
The RAC patrol person confirms my suspicions. Mrs DD uses my car the following day. Whilst I nip out for a fuel filter & fit it (ideally not whilst it's snowing 🥴)

To save me typing it out twice. Check out the 1 star review from Jez...

As I predicted, a new fuel filter cured the problem 🙂
But the RAC aren't providing the service that I paid for! 😏

I pay those numpties to get my wife home safely. And if possible give me the cause of the breakdown. So that I can sort it.

I think all the breakdown and recovery services are pretty shite to be honest. End of 2020 I had taken the missus over to Edinburgh for a hospital appointment. On the way back we had to take a50 mile diversion as the Rest and Be Thankful was closed. While on the diversion route we suffered a burst tyre and the car doesn't have a 'spare' as, being the de-luxe model sacrifices the spare to use the space where it would go for fancy speakers! Called our insurance and was told they would organise recovery for the car and a taxi to take us home. Four hours later a recovery truck from Inveraray turns up to take the car and says he was only called an hour before and hadn't been on any calls before then so could have been with us three hours earlier! Now all we are waiting on is the taxi to take us home... Almost two hours later again the taxi finally turns up and he's from Oban, just half an hour along the road but they had only called him a half hour earlier! Basically we could have been home over three hours earlier on an icy winter night if the Insurers had only had their shit slightly more together! Next day they sent a taxi to come and collect me to take me to pick the car up from the tyre fitters. The taxi that came was from Largs, a mere thirty miles or so on the other side of the place where the tyre fitters were which was thirty five miles away from me so they paid for a Taxi to travel around seventy miles or so to collect me and take me thirty five miles to collect the car. The stupidity involved is absolutely beyond belief!

Even though I have cover for my bikes the three times I've had bikes conk out on me in recent times I have fixed them myself rather than phone the cover as I can't be arsed sitting around like a tool on the side of the road waiting for some numbnuts to be sent from the other end of the country.

Ditto about your lad HT. You never stop being a parent even when telling them how to push your wheelchair! The concern and legitimate worry never leaves you.

The NHS? I've said it all before. We need to junk a Stalinist system designed in the 50s that was running out of steam by the 70s and replace it with the developed World's 'best of breed' which appears to be this:

Yes, it's insurance based but a compulsory system where the patient actually gets choices and the medics are keen to win your 'business' and don't expect the clap.... if you get my drift.

Where do I start .. West Suffolk Hosital couldn't deal with my son so they blue lighted him to Addenbrooks in Cambridge, Ambulance arrived at West Suffolk Hospital quite quickly but then had to sit and wait 40 mins while the Hospital did the paperwork (so ambulance tied up for much longer than required) when he got to Addenbrooks they got him stabilised and on a drip ..he was given 3 ltrs of fluid (at west suffolk he kept asking for water but was seemingly ignored) west suffolk over prescribed and dosed him with antibiotics, his temp at Addenbrooks was 40 deg...
Anyway I drove over and fetched him this morning and even though he is on some strong pain shit,He seems unwell but not scaring the shit out of the missus and myself ...thanks for the responses lads it does help as I'm sure you know (y)

the state of the NHS is worrying.

Especially considering the last two years with the restrictions imposed on us supposedly to "save the NHS", and all those billions spent and wasted on PPE, Track & Trace, Testing, Vaccines. If those billions had been spent on the NHS, it might have saved it, think of all the hospitals that could have been built or improved, and all the Doctors and Nurses that could have been paid for, or recruited and trained.

I read recently, that it's going to take months to incinerate all that ppe. At 5 container loads a day, that must be a big heap of stuff. And they are not even going to burn it in a power station, where it could do some good.

I just had the complete opposite with the RAC...The recovery and everything was top notch..
I guess it boils down to the individual person that comes out to you...in my case a top bloke..in your case..Possibly a bellend 🤔🦆
