DVLA medical HGV application is under review and as been put on hold as DVLA doctors are questioning my fitness to drive until they have contacted my doctor...
That's just bloody great as I've just spoken to him and being put on anti aggression/calm me mind a bit and stop my shakes tablets...
That's all I bleeding needed..
Now I'm gonna stress about losing my job my bike and my car...WANKERS
Don't panic just yet mate.
DVLA always play it extra safe.
Years ago I allegedly scored really badly in a visual fields test at the hospital. The NHS insisted that I told DVLA who immediately made me get re tested by their approved experts. I assumed that would involve a trip to Swansea or possibly Harley St in London?
Nope!
Their approved "experts" were any branch of Specsavers!
Long story short...
I did the same test twice within 20 minutes at Specsavers & scored 100% both times.
It turned out that the NHS version of the same visual fields testing machine was waaaaay out of calibration.
But whilst all that was being investigated the DVLA gave me two choices
1) Accept a new licence that would need to be renewed every 3yrs after a medical.
2) A suspended licence for the duration of their investigation.
I chose option 2 because I'm positive they'd never have reinstated my normal licence if I'd accepted the 3yr version.
Myself & Mrs DD were due to visit friends in Scotland. So she had to drive there & back plus all the driving inbetween. When we arrived home there was a letter from DVLA saying that after their investigation. My licence was back to normal.
So please don't assume it's curtains for your HGV. It's more likely to be red tape & bullshit.
