Aye, I got that email too.I got a RAC newsletter saying government to ban loud exhausts and revving...
Apparently they are going to fit noise cameras and dish out fines...
Well the next time I get hit or pulled out on by a vehicle that wasn't aware of my presence cos I got a pussy quiet exhaust I shall just kill everyone in the vehicle then that was responsible for knocking me off my bike...
FUCK EM ALL
The bit that I found hilarious though, the govts reason for making mots every 2 years instead of annually...
In a move to tackle the ongoing cost of living crisis, the Government has announced a series of proposals to help people across the UK – including changes to MOT rules.
According to the new proposals, drivers could be about to save more than £55 a year – with the annual Ministry of Transport (MOT) Test set to be scrapped and replaced with a check every 2 years.
Woot. We save 56 quids! Of course, campaigners say its a dangerous move, and will make repairs dearer. Folk will have 2 years of neglect to pay for....
Well. I have seen new vehicles come in for 1st mot, and fail. Bald tyres. Emissions off the scale, metal to metal brakes. Why? Well, they can afford the new car on finance, but the cost, plus insurance, means they can't afford to maintain it.
These are the same cretins who wait for the mot to show up what needs doing on the vehicle... See what it fails on. If it passes? Good for another year of neglect.
My Land Rover, for example, it hasn't failed an mot in 20 years. Well, except one where my mot guy asked if he could fail it for a sidelight out, which we then 'fixed' and it passed 5 minutes after. His philosophy is folk bring it in for a pretest, he does anything that needs doing, then it passes. Vosa said he wasn't failing enough, and sent an examiner out!
So for those of us who believe in maintenance, a biannual mot is no problem. To the sheeple... Its a licence to drive a death trap. I do my own mot pretest so, for me no worries. Ironically the LR is of an age where its MOT exempt, but guess what? Yes, I still mot it, and get my mot guy to give it a once over, second set of eyes and all that. There's no way I'm giving the insurance company any excuse to not pay out if required!
I do wonder why the govt want to go bi-annual though.... What do they get out of it?
