What's Boiling Your Pi$$ Today?

BAD LUCK DUCK

I've got an SMK springer, I don't get to use it now, as I have neighbours and no longer have a sufficiently large garden. It's yours if you want it @BAD LUCK DUCK, very good condition with scope and bag. I haven't fired it for about 8 years, so if you can get some use out of it, you are welcome to it.

I have to say a big thank you to @Scrappy for convincing me it was ok to have his rifle..
Cheers Scrappy and Murphy...Would have liked to have stayed a bit longer but time was getting on..
I shall be having a play tomorrow and see how I get on...😀😀😀

That looks a prize arsehole of a job
Made worse by the fact I can't get continuity on 3 of the 4 broken wires. And only sporadically on the 4th. It's either my multimeter or other breaks in the wires?
The obvious place to look next was the fuses. But the rear wash/wipe are on the same fuse & the wash works. That is the minor one of two faults though Chas. The major one is the tailgate doesn't unlock. I had to override the locking mechanism from inside the car to be able to get at the broken wires. Hence the removal of interior panels etc to get at the lock.
What really boils my pi$$ is it hasn't missed a beat in the 10yrs she's owned it. As soon as she suggested changing it, this happened! 🙄

Is it a Micra? My Ma's micra had the same issue.
I absolutely loathe electirickery faults, must be my inner catweazle ;)

No, it's a Note but I believe they are almost identical under the skin.
It's interesting that your Mums Micra had the same issue.
I was told that part of the loom is definitely borrowed from the Micra. And because the Note is a bit taller the loom has no slack & the wiring breaks.
It would appear that the fault is actually just due to the wires being continually bent back & forth every time the tailgate is opened.
As I said, it's been an awesomely reliable vehicle. For the past 10yrs all it's had is service parts & tyres. Now this! 🙄

What's your plan, just replace the wires as far back in the loom as practicable?
That'd be my only plan and I'd hate the thought of it.
Rather you than me mate :D

I "might" be off the hook Chas? 🙂
I've just explained the situation to my Mum & her reaction was..."Thank you for all your effort. But if what you're going to try next doesn't fix it? I'll pay a garage. So far the car hasn't cost me a penny since I've owned it. Paying for a one off fix won't hurt"...

I don't intend to throw in the towel just yet. Electrickery is definitely not my thing but in this instance it should be a simple enough fix.
However, if it drags on, the earache she'll give me about being without her car will end my attempts to fault find.
If there are multiple breaks in that part of the harness? And fitting a new one doesn't require the hands of a 5yr old? That might be an option. But first I'll try an auto electrician if it beats me? There's a great place in town, if they are open of course? Either way, it's not like she can't use the car 🙂
