Then I read the covid info thread and thought to myself really...

Come on...Get a life people..so much more to life than worrying about covid19..

So no I won't be giving up my freedom of choice that better people than me gave up everything for, so I could have my freedom in all its forms today...

My grandfathers both fought in WWII, my great grandparents fought in WWI and I don't believe any of them would have considered a vaccine a big issue. Except my issue is with a truncated trial process and these things being marketed as having gone through the full process. I will be far happier in 2 yrs time if all the adverse events are written up and published in context. There are cases pending in the States about alleged falsification of results to get this far. Time will tell. I’m in no hurry.

As you said @chas I see it as 'pick your battles' and feck all is gained by trying to fight this one for me. I am sure that, when the time comes there will probably be fake 'Vaccine passports' for those who want them and I kind of doubt the vaccine is going to do any more harm to me than all the chemicals I have worked with, cigarette's and pipe tobacco I've smoked, industrial pollution I have inhaled and all the chemicals I have eaten or been prescribed and viruses and infections I have caught over my life. Each to their own but I don't believe a jab in the arm and a bit of paper really does much to the freedom I have. Living where I do and not wanting to visit many places where you would need a 'passport' it ain't gonna change my life much. The day that the world really gives a shit whether I exist or not is when I will really start to worry because, at the moment, the only people I matter to and am of use to are my family and friends.

Vaccines are fairly simple medicines (now the principle is known). I take every point you raise about the machinations of Big Pharma etc.
The chances of the jab killing me before I'm dead already? Fucking slim. I've better odds of winning the lottery.

Then there’s the hard sell argument about informed consent and government overreach. Your vaccination protects you. No one else. I am happy to accept the risk, just like riding a bike.

And the underlying principles of medical ethics are long established.

My grandfather and uncles all fought the same wars and I know for a fact that each one of them would say you make your own choices in life...
