MY retirement age was 55 on a full works pension I was offered part time 19 hours aweek which would have made my pension up to full pay. Told them NO walked away from the job at 13.30 on my 55 birthday NEVER regreted it since, that was 12 years ago next month. Take the money and go Half ton you won't regret it you will have been able to switch off your work head before your retirement starts. Good luck with what ever you decide enjoy your retirement.

I decided recently that I was going to hand paint some bodywork for Bullet Number 2 the old fahioned way with brushed coach enamel and all coachlines/logos etc. traditionally painted on. This led me on to digging out my signwriting brushes that have lain dormant since, oh, must be the mid nineties at least and, last week, I went online to ASHandover and ordered a ton of fresh Signwriting enamels and other supplies to replace stuff I will need that I had long since binned or gave away. Received all my paints and spent some time just opening tins, stirring paint and then painting the tops of the lids with the colour so that I can easily see what's in each tin. Man there are not many things in this old world that make me happy but I do love vibrant and rich colours. I can drink in rich purples, blues, green, Yellow, reds etc. all day!

A picture of the paint tins or me 'drinking them in?' That was a figure of speech I have to say and I haven't gotten to the point of actually drinking enamel paint yet although the way this damnable world is going I might soon. Once I start producing some work I'll be happy to post some pics up to the forum. I'm planning to bang out a few Signs in coming weeks to get the hand back in at it. And the finished work will have the added benefit of lining my bike shed and I actually have the entire inner lining of my other shed that just might find itself going under the brush at some point. As for the bike I still have to decide on the colour scheme and layout and it will be a while before it'll be done. At the moment I am thinking Peacock Blue and Purple as the main colours with gold lining and lettering as I did that on a GSX750 I used to have and really liked it (unfortunately I don't have a single picture of the bike now) but I'm not dead set on that as I also have a leaning towards the more subdued colours that Royal Enfield used in the fifties at Redditch too.

Car in for a service, and last time they gave me an electric as a courtesy car, but today they gave me this 😄

Fast, comfortable and quiet, with a lovely interior, however its a bit soulless. Its got all the electrickery and safety gizmos like lane departure warning and correction, blind spot detection, etc, which I think make it a less safe car as people are going to get used to relying on electronics rather than their own awareness and perception 🤔

Today I thought "feck it" I am sick of having to work on bikes on my knees or lying down, so treated myself to a Hydraulic bench, I have a few jobs to do on the Bonnie over the winter so I may as well do it in comfort and give my old bones a rest, should have done it years ago.

My son in law has a 5 series hybrid that he loves. I effing hate it! Bang my head every time getting in and out back or front. The car, boys, the car! 🙄

Booked a holiday for 2023 - needed some sand and sun to look forward to.

And being the adventurous, former ex-pat, world travellers that we are, we decided to do something we've never done before next year - we're returning to exactly the same place we went this year!

I can feel that sun lounger by the pool in Tunisia calling me already
