What’s made you happy for a change

BAD LUCK DUCK

Forum Duck
My weight has made me happy for a change,Finally dropped my first stone (5 weeks) Had one hiccup when on a week off and put 2lb back on,But I did hit the rides to bakeries and burgers a bit hard ..... got to say even putting my socks on seems a bit easier now and my breathing has improved a bit as well 14st 5 lbs woohoo
I used to be 15st and whilst most of it was on my gut I felt better psychologically for it..
I got poorly and lost two stone in about six weeks..I've never been able to put it back on and now I just look like a lanky streak of piss..

Managed to change the original cable bonnet release to one of these upgraded parts. Without having to smash my way in through the grille. Or buggering up the fasteners on it 🙂

A clever design & the way Ford should have done it to begin with.

That was an infuriating design cock up by Ford. I think most Focus‘ wound up with jammed bonnets when the cruciform rod brittles and snaps.

Not Nathan Brittles, obviously

Not just the Focus Sarky.
Pretty much every Ford from 2004-2011.
It's a genius idea, if only more robust parts had been used.
The cruciform on Mrs DD's Focus was intact. But opening the bonnet was a bit hit & miss, so I swapped it out whilst the bonnet still opened. All I can think is that the original cable had stretched?

Anyway,
After £12 & a bit of head scratching. It's fixed before it failed completely 🙂

👍🏼 Eminently sensible preventive surgery. Otherwise it’s half a day, a 3’ engineer’s screwdriver, a make up mirror, wire coat hanger, well masticated bubble gum and several weeks of Voltarol and lower back massage.

(Or an angle grinder and scrapyard bonnet)
From 2011/2012 onwards, Ford went back to a traditional lever inside the vehicle. After the experimental version we are taking about Sarky.
How strange eh 🤔

My neighbour (he's been a Ford tech for 30+yrs) is on holiday at the minute. But when he gets back I plan to show him the advert for that £12 rod arrangement on Ebay.
Apparently the Ford main dealer fix is to butcher the grille & fit the same flawed mechanism again & a new grille. The total cost must be somewhere in the region of £250 for parts + labour + VAT 😳
Mind you, that's probably why it's their preferred method of entry! 🧐

So we're talking about the swing the blue oval badge out the way, key goes in to the lock hidden under it, jobbie are we? My 06 Mundaneo had that feature but thankfully it's no longer with us. My 15 and 19 Focuses (Foci?) both have levers-in-the-passenger-footwell thankfully.
