Only one hour earlier I pebble dashed the new lady Ducks toilet in her flower shop..
I should of got photos of that.. now that was a work of art..looked like one of them giant fire works exploded in the night sky kinda pattern..

I think if i did put my mirrors like that all I'd get is a good view of my wrist
Try it.
The way you have them mounted in that photo gives great visibility but it adds width.
The underslung method works great & doesn't add any discernible width.
The only minor downside is that if you angle the mirror outwards you lose visibility of the blindspots that are well covered using the underslung method.

Yes, I've tried several combinations of bar end mirror positions.
I settled on the position you currently have yours in. Mainly for aesthetic reasons.
But also because the entrance to my garage is 11 feet wide. Therefore an extra 3" width on each end of the handlebars was never an issue.
My post about the underslung position was for BB3's benefit. As his bike shed is extremely narrow.
As I said, try it & you'll see for yourself Chas.
If you don't like it, no worries. But at least you'll see that it works.
