They have been all waffle until now. Labour still is but this will kill all hope of re-election if they don’t get serious and stop expecting (pretending to expect) the French will lift a finger to stop the export of people they absolutely don’t want either.
The problem needs political will and a layered attack:
Ending the ‘pull’ of entertaining ANY asylum application from an EU departure point - it’s safe territory
Terminating the current housing and welfare package for any illegal immigrant
Making arrest in the Channel a racing certainty
Expediting repatriation within days of arrival.
Hunting down the traffickers
Publicising from Syria to Afghanistan and across Africa that the door has shut on all attempts to sneak in the back door and only proper front door applications will be considered.
The problem needs political will and a layered attack:

In theory pretty similar to us but French bureaucracy is notoriously impenetrable
We tend to play by the rules and we are amongst the most generous with benefits and housing. You need to factor in the complete absence of social provision in their ‘ancestral homelands’ but they mysteriously have smartphones and key essentials….

Straight from the beach they land on into the back of an RAF HERCULES and dropped off back in France without it landing I'd be nice and give them a parachute. Couple or 3 times doing that they would soon stop coming here.

Problem is that there isn’t the political will,the government are running scared of the potential illiberal backlash.
What’s blatantly clear is that there’s a majority who want to see tougher measures but as usual the knobs at the top are out of touch.
Meanwhile England is the most densely populated country in Europe,it reminds me of the Jonny English film where an evil Frenchman seeks to become king and fill the U.K. with prisons.

Company I work for his about to offer us a 40 pence a hour pay rise for next years pay negotiation...
At the moment they are losing drivers left right and centre from all depots..It's not just the bus Company I work for to be fair..
They can't seem to understand why they can't hold on to drivers and are struggling massively to keep services running with what staff they have..
40 pence is insulting for what we do and how things have changed and not for the better..
I'm currently on a break..I have to take my break on the bus at a bus stop with people constantly knocking on the windows asking stupid questions..Got no basic amenities such as toilet, hot water for hygiene, no canteen facilities and nowhere to keep warm...
The job is utter shite and like so many others I'm looking at jumping ship...

I would hate to be running a bus company right now with an impossible equation of running sufficient services on the right routes to generate the revenue essential to maintain the fleet and retain staff. They can’t pay what the business isn’t earning. Equally, without putting the wind up people, they should explain why their offer is the best they can afford. All too often the problem is communication and excessive secrecy.
