Just renewed the pet insurance on my Lurcher, the dog costs more to insure per year then my 2 bikes and a 4x4 put together. Guess he's worthit he's cost the insurance company over £2500 so far in payouts. they blame it on what the vets charge in fees. I've never seen a poor vet. Greedy Barstewards.
This is why we’ve given up on pet insurance. Like all insurance it’s a complete ripoff. Lost out big time when our Springer had to have major treatment and the insurance wouldn’t pay out the full amount.
We now just put some money aside each month into a separate savings account which will pay for any vets fees etc. There’s a good wedge in there now should anything need paying for, and we’ve not wasted money on premiums for the last 2 years.

My Dad was a vet. Min of Ag. Called up in WWII. Reserved occupation to feed the Home Front. Stayed on post War. By the 60s he was horrified by the differential creeping in. He was very much farm animal oriented but private pet practice made multiples of his salary when he retired mid 70s.
Self insuring like Freck is what I do but your choice of pet/breed and lifestyle all factor in. Gun dogs are good at injuring themselves!

Luchers even though they are cross breeds and not pedigree are more prone to injury and and illnesses than any other breed of dog. I don't object to keeping up his insurance and never had any problem with the insurance paying out even the £2300 bill for the injuries he was treated for when he picked a fight with a transit van and came second.

This mornings usually sedate drive through the leafy lanes of East Sussex was like something out of Death Race 2000
Feckin tossers:FO:last week London was even worse, the whole capital seemed to be on a search and destroy mission for blokes on green Thruxtons:cautious:

The problem here in Artesia, NM is that the great invention of the turn indicator doesn't seem to exist here. They are either too lazy or have a cell phone in one hand and a beer in the other. Put the damn thing down! Driving and texting is killing people.
