Not exactly today, but over the last eighteen months, my mate Nick and I have been restoring our project 1981 Honda CB900f.
When we bought the old girl she looked, as Henry Cole would say, good from far, but far from good.
So we set about pulling her apart, every last nut an bolt came off.
Frame and all black painted parts sent off for blasting and powder coating. Happily all rust was superficial and the parts came back looking good.
Exhausts didn't look too bad but we're rotten inside. Pattern replacements had to be sourced.
Engine was vapour blasted before disassembly, and sent off to a very good engine builder. He had it for a very long time, but when it came back it was worth the wait.
We had intended to return it to the original black, but thought it looked better in silver. And saved us a few quid!
And now she's finished, and running like new. Just in time for today's flaming snow!
No need for an MOT, but we got one for peace of mind. No advisories!! Bit of a miracle really, considering the two ham fisted "mechanics" who built it.
Now reregistered as a classic, so free road tax, and £80 a year comp insurance for both of us.
The eagle eyed may notice what looks like oil under the bike, but happily it ain't from the bike!
